Dr. Biswajit Mandal received B.Sc. degree with Physics Honours from University of Calcutta, M.Sc. Tech degree in Applied Geophysics from Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad and PhD Degree from CSIR-NGRI/Osmania University under the supervision of Prof. Mrinal K. Sen, earlier Director of NGRI, at present Professor University of Texas, Austin, USA. Dr. Mandal has been currently working as a Senior Scientist in CSIR - National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), Hyderabad since 2006. Prior to that, he was a research scholar in NGRI from 2003 to 2006. His research area is imaging of seismic reflection data. He is well versed in seismic data acquisition, processing and interpretation. He worked as scientist to a acquire and process multifold seismic reflection / wide angle reflection data in Mahanadi Basin, Southern Granulite Terrain (SGT), Northwestern Himalayan Geotransect, Central India, Kutch Basin, Uttarkashi, Dharwar Craton and Cauvery shear zone. He was awarded prestigious DAAD fellowship by German Academic Exchange Service in 2008 and did research on Common Reflection Surface (CRS), Stack, a seismic imaging technique with enhanced signal to noise ratio in Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany for a period of 16 months. He also visited Namometrics, Canada and SINTEF petroleum Institute, Norway for collaborative research work. He also received CSIR- Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) in 2006. He is a life time member of Society of Petroleum Geophysicists (SPG), India.
