Research Area
Dr. T. Vijaya Kumar, received his Ph.D. (Geology) from Osmania University, Hyderabad; M.Sc. (Tech.) Applied Geology degree from the Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. Dr. Vijay is currently working as Principal Scientist in Geochronology and Isotope Studies division (LAM-MCICPMS National Facility), CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad since 2004. His current interest is U-Pb Zircon dating of quartzites, gneisses, granites from Singhbhum, Dharwar craton, Southern Granulite Terrain using LA-ICPMS and insitu Hf-isotopic analysis using LA-MC-ICPMS . He works on LA-ICPMS for insitu U-Pb zircon dating and LA-MC-ICPMS for insitu Hf and solution based Sr, Nd, Hf isotope measurements on Carlsberg Ridge and Central Indian Ocean Ridge basalts from the Indian Ocean and also he is part of various projects within the group. He recently visited Geoscience Australia, Canberra, Australian National University, Canberra, Curtin University, Perth and University of Adelaide, Adelaide, Australia to work on SHRIMP U-Pb Zircon dating of rocks from different parts of the country. He is Fellow Member, Geological Society of India and Associate Fellow of Andhra and Telangana Academy of Sciences.
