A seismic refraction study across the Kachchh Basin reveals a six-layer subsurface structure with sedimentary P-wave velocities of 1.90-5.20 km/s and basement velocities of 5.85-6.10 km/s. Integrated seismic, gravity, and well data indicate significant variations in basement depth and structural uplifts associated with major faults. Thick Mesozoic sediments identified beneath Deccan Traps suggest favourable hydrocarbon potential. The study also highlights fault reactivation and basin evolution driven by regional tectonic compression and local structural heterogeneities.
