Multi-Channel Analysis of Surface Waves (MASW) studies were conducted at 191 locations in and around Lucknow city in profile mode to understand soil characteristics for microzonation studies. The analysis estimated average P wave (Vp) and S-wave (Vs) velocities, soil stiffness, predominant frequency, amplification, and peak ground acceleration. The results provide important inputs for urban land-use planning and help in developing design spectra to assess the expected level of earthquake shaking in the region.
