Senior Principal Scientist , Seismological Imaging
Broadband Seismology; Seismic Instrumentation
Dr. Sivaram Krishnavajjhala is currently working as a Senior Principal Scientist at Seismological Imaging Group, CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad, India. He has a versatile educational and career profile with PhD degree in Applied Geophysics from the Kurukshetra University, Haryana, India (2014), M.Tech from J.N.T.U, Hyderabad, India (1999) and B.Tech (Electrical & Electronics) in 1993 from Nagarjuna University, Guntur, India.
He has a wide ranging theoretical and field experience in Broadband Seismology and Seismic Instrumentation. He is actively involved in the research activities in the Seismic Imaging of the Earth, using multiple geophysical methodologies and signal processing. His Research outputs are seen in the many publications in peer reviewed journals in the subjects dealing with seismic tomography, site response studies, source parameter estimation, and seismic wave attenuation analysis, Seismic Anisotropy. Under Mission mode projects and in-house CSIR-NGRI projects, he has successfully deployed a large set of broadband seismological stations in Andaman Islands, Central India, Uttarakhand Himalaya, Dharwar craton, Southern Granulite Terrain, Lonar crator region, Eastern Dharwar Craton (EDC)-Deccan Volcanic Province (DVP) and recently the Kumaon Himalaya and Aravalli regions in India, and contributed immensely in the acquisition of high quality seismological datasets and resultant seismological modeling.
He has additional contributiions in Academics as Associate Professor in AcSIR, CSIR-NGRI, and teaching various topics in Seismology. He is supervising a number of students for their Ph.D. and M.Tech (Geophysics) dissertations. He has signifcant engineering contributions in the CSIR-NGRI infrastructure and services.
