Dr. Dewashish Kumar received B.Sc. (Hons.) in Physics from Vinoba Bhave University Hazaribagh, Jharkhand and MSc. Tech. Applied Geophysics degree from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad Jharkhand, India during 1999. He had been awarded PhD in Geophysics from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India in 2004. Dr. Dewashish Kumar is currently working as a Senior Principal Scientist at the National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad, India in the field of groundwater and exploration geophysics. He has 24 years of research experience in the field of groundwater exploration and prospecting using integrated geophysical techniques, groundwater management and development. Dr. Kumar’s research area includes groundwater and exploration geophysics, geohydrology, groundwater management and development, advanced geophysical techniques, surface & subsurface geophysics and geostatistics applied in geophysics and hydrology. Dr. Kumar is a member of International Association of Hydrological Sciences and International Association of Hydrogeologists and life member for Indian Science Congress Association, Association of Exploration Geophysicists and Indian Geophysical Union. He is a Fellow of the Society of Earth Scientists, Fellow of Geological Society of India, Fellow of Indian Geophysical Union and Associate Fellow of Andhra Pradesh Akademi of Sciences for his research work and contributions to Science & Technology. Dr. Kumar received H.S. Pareek Award of Geological Society of India in the year 2010. Dr. Dewashish Kumar received Best Paper Award - ISC-2017 in Earth System Sciences section from the Sectional president. Dr. Kumar have 76 publications to his credit, which includes scientific research papers both in national and international peer reviewed journals, chapters in books and papers in international and national conference proceedings. In addition, he presented 59 research papers both in national and international conferences, seminars, workshop and symposium. He received many honours and an award both for his research contributions and societal benefit for water and minerals.

  10. Dr. Dewashish Kumar had been honoured and elected as an ASSOCIATE FELLOW OF ANDHRA PRADESH AKADEMI OF SCIENCES (AFAPAS) in recognition of his contributions to Science & Technology on the 24th Day of December 2011.
  11. Received certificate of appreciation for attending and presenting a research work on groundwater in Hindi in National Hindi Conference organized jointly by CSIR-CCMB, CSIR-IICT and CSIR-NGRI on the theme “Societal Issue” at Hyderabad during 22-24 August, 2012.

Best Paper Award-ISC-2017: Dr. Dewashish Kumar, Principal Scientist of CSIR-NGRI, Hyderabad received Best Paper Award in Earth System Sciences section for his research paper titled “Gold - Sulphide Mineralization in Ultramafic-Mafic-Granite Complex of Jashpur, Bastar Craton, Central India: Evidences from Geophysical Studies” during 104th Indian Science Congress – Science and Technology for National Development held during 3-7 January, 2017 at S.V. University Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. He received this award and a certificate from the Sectional President of the section.
  17. Dr. Dewashish Kumar acts as a recorder in Earth System Sciences section during the 106th Indian Science Congress held at Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Jalandhar, Punjab from January 03 to 07, 2019. He is honoured with a memento by the Sectional President.
  18. Dr. Dewashish Kumar has been elected as a Member of the Sectional Committee of the Section of Earth System Sciences for 2019-2020. He received this honour from the General Secretary (Membership Affairs) of the ISCA, Kolkata dated 25th January, 2019.
  19. Fellow of IGU: Dr. Dewashish KUMAR has been admitted to the Fellow of IGU. It is announced on 15th October, 2019 by Dr. Shailesh Nayak, President IGU & FIGA at CSIR-NGRI, Hyderabad.
