In a significant visit, Padma Shri Prof. Sailesh Nayak, Chairman of the Research Council and esteemed mentor of CSIR-NGRI, visited the National Geophysical Research Institute today. The institute presented its major research and development achievements to Prof. Nayak, marking a milestone event.
The visit commenced with an insightful lecture by Dr. Prakash Kumar, Director of CSIR-NGRI, who highlighted the institute's remarkable progress in R&D. Following this, a series of engaging presentations were delivered by distinguished scientists including Dr. Prantik Mandal, Dr. Bulusu Srinivas, Dr. Labani Ray, Dr. Sandeep Gupta, and Dr. Ranjana Ghosh, each detailing key innovations in their respective fields.
Prof. Nayak, a respected figure in geosciences, provided valuable feedback and shared recommendations for the future research directions of the institute, emphasizing a vision aligned with the national goal of “Viksit Bharat 2047.”
As part of his visit, Prof. Nayak toured the experimental site of the Laser Interferometer Seismological Observatory (LISO), a groundbreaking project designed to detect subtle seismic waves. This pioneering initiative is the first of its kind in India. Prof. Nayak also laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new LISO facility, which will bolster this innovative research.
The event concluded with a fruitful exchange of ideas between Prof. Nayak, the Director, and senior scientists of CSIR-NGRI, reaffirming the institute’s commitment to driving scientific advancement and fostering innovation in geophysical and geological research.
