Prof. Seyed Majid Hassanizadeh, Senior Professor, Stuttgart Center for Simulation Science (SIMTECH), Stuttgart University, Germany, and Emeritus Professor-Department of Earth Sciences, Utrecht University, The Netherlands visited CSIR-NGRI on 11.02.2025. He was accompanied by Dr. N. Seetha, Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT-Hyderabad, India. Their visit aimed to explore potential collaborations in the field of “Vadose zone-groundwater interactions for groundwater flow and mass transport modelling. He had particularly shown his interest mainly in theoretical, computational, and experimental studies of two-phase flow and transport of solutes, viruses, and colloids in porous media that align with the NGRI’s ongoing NGRI R&D activities. Additionally, Prof. Majid had had delivered an invited talk on “Brief overview of groundwater pollution sources and remediation approaches" at the Training Programme on GWQMA under the AEGIS of CSIR-Integrated Skill Initiative held during February 3-13, 2025. During his visit, he also visited at the IRMS, OSL, HR-ICP-MS, Tritium Labs, and rock garden at NGRI, Hyderabad.
