CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI) celebrated its 64th Foundation Day today, marking a significant milestone in the institute's history. In a joint event, the occasion also served as a curtain raiser for the upcoming India International Science Festival (IISF). The event was presided over by Dr. Prakash Kumar, Director of CSIR-NGRI, and witnessed a distinguished lineup of guests, including Padma Shri Prof. Harsh K Gupta as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Ramakrishna, Scientist at DRDO and President of VIBHA, Telangana, as the Guest of Honour.
Prof. Gupta delivered a thought-provoking lecture titled "20 Years After the Great 2004 Tsunami," offering a retrospective view of the natural disaster's lasting impact and the strides in disaster preparedness and resilience since then. His address emphasized the importance of continued research and technological advancements in geosciences to safeguard society from future calamities.
